Inquiring glance . . .

As you know, I put out bird seed at the beginning of the winter in hopes of attracting birds to my window sill. But to my dismay a squirrel showed up instead. I’m not complaining though, because the little fellow endeared himself to us with his daily visits and cute antics, many of which I caught on camera and have shared here. My furry friend has not been around for the last few days, however. Quite to my surprise, a few birds have flitted here and there, taken a few seeds then flown off. This morning, I happened to have my camera and caught this gorgeous guy looking at me as if to ask why I was there. I was only able to get one shot before he flew off. Thankfully I had the camera set on automatic. So, here is the photo for your enjoyment!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Peaceful

My favorite, peaceful place is Brookside Garden in Silver Spring, MD. I spent a lot of time there when we lived close by. I have many photos that fit this week photo challenge and the majority of them were snapped at Brookside. Here is just a sampling. I hope you enjoy the slide show of this beautiful, peaceful place. 🙂

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words: Silver Spring, MD–2010

A picture is worth a thousand words, so they say.  If so, you are about to view thousands upon thousands of words in their most glorious form!

This will be the last of the cherry blossom tree photos I publish. . .I think!  Too much of a good thing becomes too much.  As you can see from my most recent blogs, I love this time of year.  Cherry blossoms are the first to bloom in the spring, and spring is my favorite season of the year.  Once these trees have blossomed, other blossoming trees begin to strut their stuff! 🙂 After a long, cold winter, the beautiful colors of blossoming trees and blooming flowers chase away the grays and browns that have dominated our landscape long enough.  Life anew.  Cycle of life.  While each season offers lessons and beauty, spring is the season that births hope, life, youthfulness and joy.  If I haven’t said it enough, I’ll say it again: I love spring!

Doldrums Buster #20: Photography

Having listed a few doldrums busters in my last post, I decided to try out some of my own suggestions, beginning with photography (number 20 on the list.)  In all fairness, I must admit that photography is one of my all time favorite hobbies, so it was no stretch for me to get my camera and venture out to see what I could photograph.  A nearby garden was my destination.  Snow still covers much of the ground, although its pristine beauty is long gone.  I wasn’t so interested in getting more snow pictures, anyway–I have more than enough of those for the moment.  However, Brookside Garden has a wonderful greenhouse and I thought I might find something there that would really bust these doldrums.  I was not disappointed.  When I entered the greenhouse, the profusion of vibrant colors was magnificent!  My spirit immediately soared as I started “shooting” away.  Following are the results of yesterday’s outing.  Enjoy.  Then get your camera and go out and see what you can photograph to banish your winter doldrums!  (p.s.  I’m always on the lookout for more doldrums busters.  If you have ideas that I’ve not listed, leave them in the comment section.  I will happily add them to the list.)
