First Snow

Looking out from the window beside my desk.

Surprise! First snow has fallen. Cleveland, here we are, ready for whatever you have in store for us! First snows are clean, lacy, light, romantic. Later we grow tired of white whether it be clean or dirty. But now, now it is new, fresh, first snow. It will be gone soon I suppose. But what a delight to open the shades to this late-fall surprise. 🙂  The child in me wants to go out. I will. Later. Finish my studies for the day, and then forge out into the crisp cold snow. Isn’t that like an adult? Enjoy the beauty later. Keep the nose to the grindstone. Glance at beauty but can’t enjoy it now. Wow. When did that happen? When did I become so adult I fail to enjoy a few moments outside in first snow? Well, not today. Today is different. Where are my boots, coat, camera! I’m going out to play!!! 😀

    1. Glad you liked the post. The snow didn’t last long but it was pretty for a little while. I’m sure KY will get it’s fair share of the white stuff before the winter is over. Thanks for stopping by, as always. 🙂

  1. Isn’t it great? I hope you got out to enjoy it. 🙂

We didn’t get nearly as much here in the secondary snowbelt. Just a dusting this morning. Our turn will come.

  2. It’s beautiful, and I too still feel the same excitement over the first snow. We had it, but we’ve already lost it to rain and warm weather.

    Hope you had fun! 🙂

    1. The snow didn’t last very long. Too warm. But it was pretty. I am not a “snow lover” but this year I intend to make peace with it, AND to enjoy it. Might as well seeing as I live in a snowbelt now! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Rebekah.

  3. I think you got the same snow storm passing through that we got here in Michigan. I had the same idea on my mind as you did, but have posted it for tomorrow. If your snow was like ours, good thing you went out first – a lot of ours was gone by later in the day.

  4. I love snowfalls like this… light, fresh and newly fallen. Beautiful photos. The weatherman is forcasting snow in KC this weekend.

    1. Thanks, Theresa. Today’s snow was beautiful, light, fluffy, and then it all melted as usually happens with first snows. I’m sure we will get plenty more in the coming months! Stay warm this weekend! and try to have fun in it if it does snow. 🙂

    1. Yes, the views from all of our windows are incredible! Every season offers up its own type of beauty. This is it for the winter! Not bad, eh. Thanks for stopping by. Much appreciated.

    1. Thanks, Nancy. I’m not crazy about snow. I much prefer the sun, but since we are here and it is an inevitable part of our lives as long as we live in the north, I am determined to learn how to enjoy it and play in it! 🙂

    1. I know wasn’t it exciting. Even though I complain about the snow and cold, to this day I get a little excited over the first snow of the season. I think that snow brings out the child-like wonder in most of us. (Of course, after a few snow storms, cold weather, shoveling, etc., the wonder is pretty much gone for the season. Oh well . . . enjoy it while it lasts!)

  5. I’m originally from North Dakota, so I’ve seen A LOT of snow.
It’s always very picturesque (at first, anyway).
I think I’d like it a lot more if it lasted for weeks rather than months, though.

    1. Whoah…now that is cold! I’ve passed through ND but I don’t think I could live there. The winters must be wicked! I’m with you; I’d like snow a lot more if it just came, then went away rather quickly. 🙂

        1. Actually, experiencing -30 air temp has never been on my bucket list. My husband however, having been born in Samarkand, LOVES sub-zero weather. His idea of a vacation is to go to the Antarctic and do research. I love the man, but he is weird sometimes! ;-D
