Weekly Photo Challenge: Windows

I am in Chicago for a few days visiting my daughters and their families. I arrived in the windy city around sunrise Sunday morning. My daughter’s partner picked me up at Union Station (you really ought to travel by MegaBus at least once! Great fun!) but instead of going straight back to their apartment, we did a little sight-seeing first. Chicago on a Sunday morning at sunrise, empty streets, wonderful colors, fantastic architecture . . . and Marilyn . . . is awesome! I was not thinking about this challenge when I was shooting, but early this morning as I was going through the photos, I thought this would fit the bill. Enjoy! (and I’ll throw in a few of Marilyn as a bonus! :-))

    1. SIG! It’s good to see you back. Hope your move went smoothly. Glad you like the photos, and Marilyn is such an iconic figure, how could I bypass her???? It is great to be here for a few days. 🙂

  1. Cecelia how nice to be in Chicago visiting your daughters! We honeymooned there 37 years ago in January. What were we thinking? Your photos are awesome for the photo challenge. Lots of windows and who wouldn’t enjoy your shot of Marilyn? Last picture is lovely. Have a great visit and a safe trip home!

    1. Thanks for stopping by SDUTO. This is a long overdue visit and the quick tour of the city was the icing on the cake. The rest of my stay will be in the ‘burbs, but I’m having a wonderful time with the kids.

    1. I agree. Chicago is an awesome city. Sooooo much going on, and so much I could say. If I was going to be here longer, I’d have LOTS more photos of this magnificent city. Glad the photos brought back such fond memories.

  2. If you’re in downtown Chicago, stop in the public library and take the elevator to the top floor! You can look up and see the sky and all the skyscrapers! It’s lovely — I hope you can visit – you will love it!!!!

    1. Oooooo — That sounds fantastic. Won’t be able to do that this trip but I will be back regularly now that we live closer. I will definitely be checking out the library next trip! Thanks for the tip.

  3. Chicago is a great city. I almost moved there a life time ago. I love your shots as usual. What kind of camera do you use? I am thinking of upgrading mine.

    Cheers,
    Louise

    1. Thanks Louise,
I have a Pentax K-7 with a Tamron Lens. But I’ve also gotten some awesome shots from my Olympus point-and-shoot. Most people I know use a Canon or a Nikon. I have been a Pentax fan ever since my Pentax Spotmatic 35 years ago. Good luck on the upgrade.

    1. Thanks Elizabeth. I have had a wonderful time here, but I head home in a few hours. Chicago is a wonderful city and I have already made plans to return in early spring! Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

  4. Lovely shots! I thought for a moment, when reading you intro, that Marilyn was your daughter when of course your fabulous shots told me otherwise! Am sure you enjoyed your stay!

  5. Beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing with the rest of us. I’ve never been in the city – just around the city, passing on the interstate. I love the shots. 🙂

  6. Beautiful shots! Since moving to a small town nine years ago my fascination with skyscrapers had been steadily increasing… I’ve gotta get to the city more!

    1. Awesome. Also overwhelming. I can’t imagine living like that. Daunting is another word that comes to mind. Give me the house on the Dina River. Thas is more my style. Thanks for stopping by and for leaving a comment. Have a glorious day.
